This body of recent work, at its core, addresses notions of concealment and volatility, the soft and hard. These sculptural paintings operate like gestures that halt states of becoming; personifying materials that commonly function as backdrop for domestic living spaces. By employing big deliberate moves and distilling the physical elements within each piece, the viewer may meditate upon the effects of a pour, spill, or twist, that is silenced through the repetitive layering of house paint. I strive to engage my audience in the tactile beauty of what is often overlooked, and at the same time, reveal interstices of self-certainty and self-doubt.
